2021.02.15 - Virtual Y Updates and Enhancements

We have very exciting news. This month’s platform update, based on Open Y 8.2.7.3 & Virtual Y 1.2.3, is huge and full of enhancements to improve the member experience and increase engagement with your YMCA. So, without further ado, let’s look at the changes and updated schedule for this release.  

Highlights

Member Experience Enhancements 

  • Live Schedule - A 7-day scrollable view of your live streams and virtual meetings combined into one comprehensive, mobile-friendly Live Events calendar allowing members to quickly find activity information. 
  • Favorites - Members can now “favorite” content that is most appealing to them which is accessible from a customizable dashboard. This makes it easier for members to keep track of what they liked. 
  • Categories - Categories have been greatly improved. Now all four content types can be grouped into single categories and viewed from a convenient listing page. If a member selects a category, they can now see all of the videos, live streams, blog posts in that category! 

Design Enhancements 

  • New Headline Banner - Has your YMCA wanted to market or promote popular classes or simply alert your members to something new and exciting? There is now a prominent space for that! 
  • New Personalization Section - Members can now view a calendar-based event schedule, favorited content, categories, and conveniently sign out all within a new personalization banner. 
  • New Tile Design - The on-demand and live stream tile design has been updated providing members updated “at-a-glance" content as well as different color schemes for both. 
  • New Menu System - Virtual Y now has its own menu system, optimized for mobile. Menu colors are now configurable from the administrator interface. 

Administrative Enhancements 

  • Category Ordering - Categories can now be ordered. Perhaps you find some categories are more popular than others, you can now promote those to be listed first. 
  • YouTube Playlist Support - If you paste in a playlist link for a video, your Virtual Y will pull the correct video.  
  • Video Event Logging - Want to know when members start videos or live streams? We log that for you now.
